This resource extends children's use of ICT and sound vocabulary to compose a soundscape [graphic score]. Children explore a wide range of sound sources and share their findings with the class.

This resource should strengthen understanding of the contextual importance of music making in different cultures.  By working with a musical genre which is already part of their cultural world, we should be able to make classroom music more engaging for our students.

Kandinsky considered music to be the most developed of the ‘abstract’ arts and consciously made connections between developments in music and the visual arts. This project uses a Kandinsky painting to generate musical ideas for group composition.

This project focus on the study of chorale cadences in AS Music: using the guide supplied within this resource and the audio-visual material offered, students learn how to harmonise chorale cadences in the style of J S Bach.

This project will look at blues music and the diversity within it, considering factors such as instrumentation, style and emotional response, and the technological, social and political influences that have shaped the genre.

Remixing is now an important part of contemporary music production. This project provides an understanding of how it works and an awareness of the context in which it has developed as a creative tool.
