TeachNet is a project from the Teachers Network organisation in the US, a non-profit organisation with a long history of working with teachers to develop and share classroom resources. A similar project in Ireland [TeachNet Ireland] is also well established.

Citigroup FoundationThe core funding for this initiative [which saw its first year of operation in the UK in 2004] is kindly provided by the Citigroup Foundation.

Each year, the Teachnet UK programme involves some 20 or more teachers from schools across England, developing resources to share. Our teachers have developed a broad spectrum of classroom resources and these are now available for download and adaptation by teachers across the world, either from this site, or from the Teachers Network site in the US.

Adobe - now sponsors of Teachnet UK professional development workshopsTeachers in the programme are at a wide range of ICT skill level. Some already have advanced ICT skills but wish to apply these for a specific educational need; others are just starting out on the road to using ICT for their subject teaching. And so the programme is able to provide each teacher with the professional development required, and assistance with the preparation of materials. We are pleased to announce that Adobe has agreed to support and sponsor many of the professional development activities for the programme.

Successful Teachnet projects share the following criteria ...

  • Address a classroom use of ICT in a subject;
  • Provide a self-contained unit of work of around 4-5 hours' duration;
  • Include student and teacher support, and all other materials required to deliver the unit
  • Are tried and tested with students, in the classroom

Projects accepted for publication have earned their authors
[or authoring teams] a monetary award of £450!
Their schools are receiving international recognition
for the way in which they are embracing ICT!
