A question for your students ... do they know their carbohydrates from their proteins? Their healthy food from their unhealthy food?

This unit of work will build on the word covered by the students in their Science and Geography lessons and will encourage the use of ICT to conduct research into the nutritional content of food ... with the aim of improving the students' health!

Students are asked to imagine that they are in charge of the school canteen or they are about to open a new restaurant and/or they simply want to improve their health. They might already have a good idea of what is and what isn't healthy but by the end of the unit, students should be able to create and use a database and spreadsheet effectively, present summary information, understand nutrition and be able to judge the nutritional content of different foods.
