This project was designed to help teachers understand the new qualification that is the Extended Project [EPQ] and start them off with some support and resources. I have been piloting the Extended Project in my school for the last two years and I have gathered here some teaching resources as well as some ideas on how to run this qualification.

The EPQ increases student confidence and develops skills required for independent working, problem solving, organisation and presentation.  For teachers, it provides opportunities to assess both process and product, and a focus on the skills that their students lack or need to develop.

Feedback from both students and teachers was positive and from September 2009, Hillview will be offering a choice in enrichment activities including the EPQ.

The presentations include theory and activities but are only intended to provide a starting point. The resources provide ideas for the sorts of lessons and workshop activities that would develop the appropriate skill set in students.
