Over a period of five lessons in one week, students work through the activities and exercises that provide practice in using instructional text whilst at the same time, revising verb tenses and using imperative commands. This forms part of the Text level objectives associated with Literacy medium term planning for Year 4 Term 1

Students start by identifying the features of text which gives instruction. They note key headings, words, sentences and paragraphs, learn how to list materials or ingredients for their activities with the use of commas and bullet points, and learn also how to give clear instructions to their peers.
