Activity 1: Presentation – Le Petit Déjeuner Part 1
The presentation introduces 9 items of food vocabulary.
Slides 4 to 12 introduce the picture + sound [click on the picture to hear the word].
Slides 13 to 22 can be used as reinforcement/practice; a picture appears and the student must say what it is; click on the picture to hear the word and check the answer.
Click on the little black figure [bottom right] to move to next slide.
Slides 24 to 32 : further practise with feedback; click on the duck in top left-hand corner which will ask the student to click on a picture. If they click on the wrong picture, they will hear the word for that picture. If correct, they will get a « Bravo » feedback'!
Remove the music if you find it annoying!
Activity 2: Presentation - Le Petit Dejeuner Part 2
The presentation introduces the written words for these 9 items.
Slides 6 to 14 introduce the written words. Again click on the little black figure to move to next slide
[you don’t need to, but if you don’t click on the correct place, you might end up listening to the sound again and again!]
Slides 15 to 23 : practise reading the word and clicking on the correct picture.
Slide 25 is just a memory game that can be played for as long or short a time as you wish.
Slides 27 to 29 : practice writing the words correctly in the box; a checklist has been provided at the top of the page.
Activity 3: Smartbook file - Le Petit Dejeuner Part 3
Page 2 : revise vocabulary previously learnt; teacher or students take it in turn to ask "montre-moi ...."
Pages 3 - 11 : further revision asking the students to concentrate on the shape displayed.
Pages 12 - 18 : students have an opportunity to start building sentences using familiar vocabulary.
Pages 19-21 : 3 games of pelmanism which can be used as a starter or plenary activity.
Activity 4: Presentation - Le Petit Dejeuner Part 4
Introduces further items of food vocabulary
Slides 3 to 12 introduce the new words; click on pictures to hear the words
Slides 13 to 23 : practice matching the written words to the sounds; the picture will appear if the student clicks on the correct words
Slides 25 to 30 : introduce je mange/je bois and encourage the children to start producing short sentences. (use slide 25 as an example)
Slides 31 onwards are the feedback for previous activities.
Activity 5: Presentation – Le Pain Perdu
This is a powerpoint showing the successive steps to make a simple French recipe. The children can watch, listen and read the text.
Activity 6: Smartbook file - Une Recette
Can be used to reinforce the vocabulary and as a sequencing exercise. The worksheet une recette – le pain perdu can be used as further reinforcement.
Activity 7: Presentation - Le Petit Chapeau Violet – Histoire
An adaptation of little Red riding Hood; very repetitive; can be used as an opportunity to make sense of a more extended text using familiar [and some unfamiliar] vocabulary.
Activity 8: Listening Presentation - Le Petit Chapeau Violet – Trouve l’image
[PowerPoint presentation circa 20Mb]
Student click on the owl to hear a sentence; they’ll get positive « Bravo » feedback if they click on the correct picture. Students choosing the wrong image will have the opportunity to return to the original slide to have another go!
Activity 9: Reading Presentation - Le Petit Chapeau Violet – Trouve l’image
[PowerPoint presentation circa 12Mb]
This time, students read a sentence on the left and click the image on the right which depicts the meaning. Success brings a positive « Bravo » feedback! But students clicking the wrong image are given the opportunity to return to the original slide to have another go.
