Logo is a mathematical programming language invented in 1968 by Seymour Papert. It is designed to teach students to learn to problem solve in a virtual environment through the medium of computer control and programming.
The aspect of Logo that we will use in this unit is Turtle graphics. Using the computer to control a virtual Turtle which draws pictures on the screen.

Below is a screenshot of the Logo environment showing the Turtle, some of the graphics that it can draw and command area where instructions are typed.

These days as well as screen versions of Logo one is able to purchase floor Turtles and Roamers which can be programmed with a series of commands.
