Student activities

Students will each make a movie and include the following features:

  • Show all of the stages of manufacture in the correct order
  • Apply transitions between each of the clips
  • Appropriate titles, credits and text overlays at various stages throughout the movie
  • Apply appropriate music and/or voice-over
  • Include all of the safety instructions

By the end of the task all students will

  • Know how to construct a digital movie and include the various features listed above
  • Understand the resource implications for storage of digital files and render the movies in an appropriate resolution mindful of this restriction
  • Be prepared with an understanding of the necessary stages of manufacturing prior to commencement of the practical task
  • Have an understanding of the health and safety hazards involved in the manufacturing process and know what precautions to take

Extension activities
In this first project all the movie clips will be provided but I envisage that students could make their own movies and learn to use the digital video camera. The project could be extended to other manufacturing and workshop processes and we could develop a bank of resources for future use
